Any Questions?

What are your personal memories associated with Barbie dolls?

Magda: "I grew up in a time when Barbie dolls were difficult to obtain in Poland. You could only buy them in stores called "Pewex," using dollars, which made it even more complicated. For my generation, Barbie was synonymous with luxury, a fulfilled dream, and "something cool from America." I had a few. The most precious was a ballerina from 1989. I remember her because she seemed completely out of reach, yet I received her anyway."

Which Barbie era is your favorite and why?

Magda: "I love dolls from the late 70s and early 80s. They have charm and sweetness without being kitsch. For me, they represent the quintessence of Mattel."

Which model or face mold do you consider the most characteristic or your favorite?

Magda: "The Superstar from 1977 completely enchanted me. The most characteristic ones, in my opinion, are the Barbies from the second half of the 80s. I suspect everyone would give a slightly different answer here."

Do you have dolls in your collection that are difficult to part with? What makes them special?

Magda: "The Swedish Barbie from the "Dolls of the World" collection from 1982. She is so beautiful, her outfit is such a work of art, that it will be difficult to say goodbye to something so unique."

How did your adventure with collecting and restoring vintage Barbie dolls begin?

Magda: "I wanted to recover the dolls from my childhood. While searching for them, I came up with the idea for our shop. Sławek, I believe, became enchanted with vintage Barbies, and I think I managed to convince him that a Barbie doll is not just a plastic toy, but an illustration of history, particularly showing changes in American society. It's a sociological phenomenon and a cultural icon."

What was the most fascinating or surprising thing you learned about Barbie dolls while running this business?

That people have such amazing personal memories associated with Barbie dolls. These stories would make a very interesting book.

What do you consider the most challenging aspect of restoring vintage dolls?

Repairing damage like scratches and chips. And all the orthopedic work.

How do you recognize which doll is unique or particularly valuable for collectors?

A bit of knowledge, market familiarity, and some intuition.

Do you sometimes find dolls in NIB (new in the box) or NRFB (never removed from box) condition?

Occasionally - yes! 🙂 However, we don't focus exclusively on such specimens.

How do you source your vintage Barbie dolls?

Our vintage dolls come from various sources, including estate sales, private collectors, and specialized vintage toy markets. We personally inspect each doll before acquisition to ensure it meets our quality standards and has restoration potential. We believe in ethical sourcing and only acquire dolls that have been previously loved and need a new home.

What does your restoration process involve?

Our restoration process is meticulous and respectful of each doll's history. It typically includes gentle cleaning, hair restoration using period-appropriate techniques, careful touch-up of face paint when necessary, and body revitalization. We never replace original parts unless absolutely necessary, and when we do, we use authentic vintage parts from our restoration inventory. Each doll undergoes a customized spa treatment based on its specific needs, preserving its unique character while bringing back its beauty.

How do you package and ship the dolls?

Each doll is carefully wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and placed in our signature lavender box with a burgundy ribbon. The box includes a personalized story card detailing the doll's history and restoration journey. For shipping, this presentation box is securely placed inside a protective outer box with custom foam inserts to prevent any movement during transit. We ship worldwide with full tracking and insurance.

Do you offer custom restoration services?

No, we don't offer custom restoration services for other people's dolls. We focus exclusively on our own carefully curated collection to ensure the highest quality and authenticity for our customers. Each doll in our shop has been personally selected, restored, and prepared by us to meet our exacting standards. This allows us to maintain consistency in our restoration philosophy and provide the guarantee of quality that our collectors expect.

Why do you give names to your Barbie dolls?

We believe that each vintage Barbie has her own unique personality and story. Naming them honors their individuality and the era they represent. When we restore a doll, we spend significant time with her, getting to know her character and imagining her journey through the decades. The name we choose reflects this personality and helps create a personal connection for her new owner. It's part of what makes adopting a Preloved Beauty doll a special experience—you're not just acquiring a collectible, but welcoming a character with history into your home.
